My name is Jonathan and I'm passionate and foreign languages and technology. I'm originally from Nebraska (USA) but after high school I studied Spanish at Université Grenoble Alpes. I now work as a freelance web developer but I still love teaching foreign languages and English on the side.
My teaching philosophy is that it is always better to teach students how to use tools to hell teach themselves. Classes should not last forever and I believe that it is key to help students become independent since there are so many free resources out there.
It is key to find practical applications of what students learn in their daily lives. All too often, students learn something but never use it outside of the classroom. I try to keep my lessons laid back and to make sure that my students are not only learning but that they are having fun.
To give an example of my teaching methodology, one way that I teach my students is by showing parallel code. For example, in addition to explaining the code teachers can write code that produces the same result in different ways. I find that rewriting code in multiple ways helps students' comprehension immensely.
I have been working in front-end development for four years. I have been working with WordPress as a freelancer for the last two years after having done an internship with a company specializing in software using vue js to create legal software. I now work with many small businesses to help promote their businesses by making their first website.
It was in Grenoble that I took my first university course in web development and realized that it was my true passion. After this, I have taken different courses on Python and operating systems at my local community college to broaden my knowledge.
For a complete list of all of my experience with programming languages and technologies I have worked with: SQL, PHP, VUE.JS, WordPress, AppleScript, Jquery, Javascript, HTML, Node.js. I am familiar with Windows and macOS operating systems.
I look forward to meeting you soon! If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a message
