Piano Music theory, music history, chamber music

My twenty-plus years of performance arts experience, specifically as it relates to my life-long career as a pianist, provide an excellent foundation for my overall mentoring and teaching abilities, particularly in the areas of music appreciation, theory, history and student development.

I have a Doctorate in Piano Performance with a minor field in Music History from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, IN. While at Indiana University, I taught private lessons and Class Piano during the years-My minor in Music History allows me to believe that I am able to structure and teach Music History in a class setting to a high standard.

Some of the highlights of my career to date include an upcoming recital at Weill Carnegie Hall on July 7th 2023, additional solo and chamber solo and chamber recitals in various places around the world such as Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Oman, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam and the former Yugoslavia, as well as many different locations in the United States. My travel experiences has helped me to cultivate my teaching and mentoring abilities to a very high level, providing me with a solid understanding of the role expected in a professional setting.

I respect the individual uniqueness in each student. One has to realize that every student improves in his or hers unique way and my task is to bring out the best from each students’ potential. Therefore I always treat and believe in each student. Teaching is based on commitments. We as teachers commit to be warm, inviting, but also demanding to our students. I emphasize and mentor students how to be disciplined and achieve the best as people and musicians.
I think that teaching emphasizes on human interactions. I have a collaborative mentality which helps me connect with students and faculty equally well. I am a person who is very much task oriented and takes principles well.
Currently I am a Piano Professor and Chair of the Piano Department at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman. Before that I was a Full Time Piano Professor at Pelita Harapan Christian University in Karawaci, Indonesia, where I taught private piano lessons and conducted piano performance classes. At UPH I also was the Chair of the Collaborative Piano Department, presented lectures, and performed recitals.
