I teach English to adults at intermediate and advanced levels. I have experience particularly with IELTS and OET

I am a native English speaker with a qualification in English teaching (CELTA) and my experience is mostly with adults at intermediate and advanced levels. My lessons are dynamic, and I like to use real-life materials when I am teaching, such as newspapers, audio, video, short stories etc, but the emphasis is on enabling the student to speak and, when appropriate, to write. I am very experienced at helping with grammar and learning new vocabulary. I enjoy producing exercises for each student to reinforce new vocabulary. My lessons are tailor made for each student, and I encourage my students to participate very actively during lessons. I am experienced in particular with IELTS and with OET (Occupational English Test).
My professional background is that I was a senior nurse working in palliative care, so I have a good knowledge of nursing / medical language, and this helps me especially with OET. I have a batchelor´s degree in nursing professional practice so I am skilled with academic English speaking and writing. I was born in England and lived there until August 2021. I now live in Brazil, and as I am now learning Portuguese I appreciate the challenges involved in learning a second language.
