Joseph Ogunu

My name is Joseph Ogunu. I am currently a doctoral researcher in law. I graduated with double masters (honors) degrees in law . I am also a certificated English language teacher with an excellent teaching background and years of solid classroom teaching experience. I hold both the TEFL/ESL and the TRA certificates respectively and I have taught students in both formal school settings and as a private tutor. I am an experienced professional who loves teaching as a passion and loves to impart knowledge and see my students improve, excel and gain confidence in their academic pursuits.

I teach primary, secondary, B1 & B2 classes; whether at preparatory or review stages or with rendering assistance with assignments and combining personalized and individual needs and attention.

My teaching strategy is collaborative, progressive and incremental. In other words, while the teacher introduces the principles step by step, students are motivated and encouraged to actively participate through practical exercises with the freedom and confidence to make mistakes and effect corrections. Students are introduced to grammar and syntax, taught with controlled practice with games , lexis, phonology and functional language . The methods will include audio-lingual-focusing on listening and speaking skills through repetition and drilling; teaching reading comprehension and writing skills, task-based learning-students learn by completing tasks that require language use, technology integration- by utilizing technology to enhance learning and combining traditional classroom instruction with online learning Grammar -translation method that emphasizes grammar rules and translation methods and vocabulary building by teaching new words and phrases
