As a recent French language learning, i got to feel what it is like to learn a non native language at a later age. and i got know the phsycological effect and reflects of the whole progressive process . so i know how you you feel!
when i tech- i like to first get to know your level, personal strengths and weaknesses with the language. and then get to know you preferred and most efficient mode of learning and start to integrate my pedagogy with your preference accordingly- whether you prefer the pen and paper- or bouncing the ball on the wall, i like to be flexible and interactive with my work, and like to explain to the student why everything is- rather than just try to memorise the material. the more personal the lessons are, the ore likely they will stay in the mind and heart. and most importantly - IT IS OK TO MAKE MISTAKES! :)
