Experienced, CELTA-qualified Native English Teacher

I spent the last five years teaching at St Giles Highgate in London. The school prides itself on a familial atmosphere that is supportive and fun. During my time there, I taught at all levels, to all ages and abilities. I created my own classes, drawing inspiration from the material in the textbooks. I always aimed to develop the course material into something that lived outside of the book and had real use and interest for my students. I often received positive feedback for this approach, as it feels fresh and exciting for the students. I offer fully immersive English classes that target the needs of each student. I believe that learning English is about more than just learning a language because you have to. From my experience, the English language is a magnificent tool, and it is up to each student to discover what they would like to use it for. A 76-year-old Japanese man I taught wanted to be a tour guide in his hometown. A 29-year-old French lady used English to learn more about her afro hair. A 16-year-old German boy used English to speak to students from other countries about football and organise matches. A 68-year-old Finnish lady learned English just to prove to her husband that she could; she later used it to travel solo throughout Europe. Learning English doesn't need to feel like an obligation; it can be useful in hundreds of exciting ways. My aim is to give you the skills you need to find those ways and to inspire you.
