Online English teacher - native speaker with several years of experience teaching English who is also an editor and award-winning literary translator

Although I am predominantly an editor and translator, I also have approximately five years of experience as a teacher of English as a foreign language. I work with advanced students only, and I am particularly interested in helping them to recognise and master nuances of the language. Sometimes the little details are the best! The majority of the classes I have taught have been designed by me according to principles of content-based, task-based language learning. This approach to language learning is beneficial at all levels, but it is particularly enjoyable for advanced learners, because we work with real-world materials and deal with real-world situations. We can design a course around your preferred subject matter, or we can focus on the news and how world events affect us in our daily lives, or we can study literature or music, or we can consider questions of ethics, or... In fact, there is no limit to the subject matter we can work with. If the class wants to use material that I am not very familiar with, then I can contribute the language, the students can contribute the knowledge, and we can all learn together.
