Although, due to the pandemic, online classes have become more beneficial and practical than before, and they play a valuable role in our daily routine, adapting to new situations has always been challenging, especially when comes to young learners. As a teacher, I'm always searching for new ideas, trying to upgrade my knowledge, and creating new ways of communicating and bonding with students.

To the best of my knowledge, role play is a part of children's growth, as it builds confidence, creativity, communication, and problem-solving. Before the pandemic, I used role-play many times in my in-person classes to allow the students to use their English as a second language in real-life situations without feeling ashamed by participating in fun activities. In virtual classes, however, we may face issues that we may not be able to solve simply as before.
I had a disruptive student in my online class who couldn't stay behind monitor, participate in activities, or even communicate with others. It made me think about different ways for their engagement in class. Therefore, I found how effective role-play can be in online classes. The students may be embarrassed the first few times they want to say or do something in front of others. Some of them, with low empathy, may even joke about their classmates. They may also struggle with listening to you. But that embarrassment will quickly disappear in role-playing when they see understanding from you and others while facing the fun part and eventually feel more confident.

There was a time when there was no proper education or even people who felt concerned about making things more effective. But as time went by, we have had sustainable education for children.
We're hoping that children can build a better future, and try our best to educate them. However, we can not ignore the lack of knowledge in leading or the creativity in making a solution. Therefore, as a teacher and a small part of the community, I made it my duty to step forward to be initiative, and expand my knowledge.
